Well, congratulations to all of you that recognised this as a wasp deterrent.
The concept behind this is that the wasps see this as a wasp nest – a wasp nest constructed by other wasps – so give it a wide berth. It is in fact just a piece of cloth that you stuff full of plastic bags or suchlike to plump it out into the requisite shape.
Does it work? Well, of course, it’s rather difficult to mathematically test the number of visiting wasps and compare to a previous year, but I got the impression that it helped last year, and anything is worth a try! Is it my imagination or are wasp stings more painful nowadays? perhaps the next quiz should be on wasp sting remedies?
