About Chateau Colombier

Chateau Colombier in Provence

It’s paradise on earth (the local poet Giotto said that about Nyons – and might well have said that about Chateau Colombier if he were still around). Wow! is usually the first word on the lips of our guests when they arrive…

And everything is Wow. Imagine a house with 2 metre thick stone walls. The signature tower. 300 days sunshine a year. Amazing views from every window. Restored so that every room is different, comfortable, intimate … yet it retains its character and a soul that is planted firmly in the terroir of the region.

Now think about what you want from your holiday home … perhaps a house large enough for a multi-generational family reunion … a comfortable place to set out from on walks, cycle rides, visits to local villages … gardens to hide in … a pool to splash in … and a kitchen to cook amazing meals with local produce to eat during the balmy Provencal evenings… helped along by wines discovered in the local vineyards and caves or tisanes from the herb garden.

House and Pool Chateau Colombier always delights our guests. We have spacious bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms,  different reception areas and extensive gardens so there are always plenty of private areas inside or out to find a quiet spot to relax or to gather together.

The kitchen is generously equipped and we’ve included the cookbook classics for inspiration and enlightenment. Whether you choose to eat in the formal dining room, the spacious kitchen or outside around long tables on the terrace beside the beautiful pool, Chateau Colombier is the perfect place to enjoy those long, lingering meals…

And the little extras that make all the difference to ensure that everyone’s needs are catered for: Wi-fi access throughout the house and garden, a well-stocked library, dvd selection, games, jigsaw puzzles and local maps and information; all freely available to our guests. There’s even a piano to play.

Relax outside in the walled pool garden and enjoy the sun or the shade under the veranda surrounded by fragrant flowers and aromatic herbs. The secluded and total private enclosed pool garden is landscaped with paths, paved areas, terraces and raised beds containing a wide collection of colourful plants, climbing roses and leafy vines.

The swimming pool with jacuzzi has a motorised cover which provides both security and natural heating – it’s open April – October..

With 300 days sunshine a year, we’re open all year round. Warm and cosy in winter (wood burning stoves and full central heating), the house is cool and calm in the heat of summer. The 2-metre thick walls and the shutters provide eco-friendly climate control.

If the whole house is too large for your needs we can offer the studio/gite, an internal top self-contained environment (top floor) or chambres d’hote.  See full details on the  Accommodation page.

The House and Pool

Château Colombier provides a unique “home from home” for up to 16 guests in a flexible range of self-catering accommodation. Bed and breakfast and catered breaks are also available on request.

Warm and cosy in winter (wood burning stoves and full central heating), the house is cool and calm in the heat of summer. The 2-metre thick walls and the shutters provide eco-friendly climate control.

The swimming pool with jacuzzi in the walled garden has a motorised cover so it’s open April – October. Enjoy the sun or the shade under the veranda. The pool-area garden is landscaped with paths, paved areas, terraces and raised beds containing a wide collection of aromatic plants, climbing roses and leafy vines.

The house is surrounded by lavender fields and fruit trees, and it’s just a couple of minutes stroll to the local river Eygues. This part of Provence has changed little for centuries. Life is slow and peaceful; it is a perfect place to unwind and re-evaluate the quality of your life.

When you want to do more, you’ll find lots to do – sports, wine tasting, local markets, pretty villages, stunning scenery and the many cultural sites such as Vaison-la-Romaine, Avignon, Orange, Nimes, Arles, the Pont du Gard.
