The French expression cerf volant is so much more interesting than the word kite!
This weekend (23rd/24th) is the annual kite (cerf volant) festival held in St May, just a short distance from Colombier, and famous for its vultures! So if you’re passing don’t forget to look up into the sky to see hundreds of brightly coloured kites dancing above the rocky crags, plunging into the deep gorges and dancing with the vultures. Kite enthusiasts from all over France and beyond come to fly their kites – wind permitting. And if the wind doesn’t co-operate they display them on the ground!
Here’s a poster from a previous year’s festival.
